Lean Six Sigma is often associated with manufacturing.

But what happens when we take those same improvement principles into places where organizations have not traditionally used them?

That question has defined much of Tres’s work.

For nearly 20 years, he has worked across quality, continuous improvement, operations, consulting, and higher education. This session will examine what carries across different environments, what needs to adapt, and what practitioners can learn when they apply familiar methods to new types of work and problems.

The conversation is designed for a broad audience, from experienced Lean, Six Sigma, and improvement practitioners to people working in operations, quality, engineering, project management, education, consulting, and research, as well as students and anyone interested in improving how work gets done.

Dr. Tres Bishop helps organizations improve performance, streamline operations, and build systems that scale. With nearly 20 years of experience in quality and continuous improvement, Dr. Bishop works with leaders to strengthen operations, reduce inefficiencies, improve customer outcomes, and create more effective workflows using proven process improvement and project management methods.

His experience spans healthcare, hospitality, higher education, government, and private industry. Dr. Bishop holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree and professional certifications including Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Project Management Professional, and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.

Dr. Bishop is an Operations Management faculty member at Florida Atlantic University, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in operations management, project management, healthcare operations, change management, data analytics, and quality management. He is also Managing Director and Co-Founder of Tres Bishop Consulting, which provides customized training, coaching, and advisory support in operational excellence and performance improvement.

His applied research and publications focus on Lean Six Sigma, quality management, and project management, with an emphasis on practical, evidence-based approaches that produce measurable and sustainable results.
