The Lean Jax Junto:A Modern Forum for Purposeful Problem-Solving

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

— Benjamin Franklin

The Jacksonville Lean Consortium is excited to announce our new monthly virtual training series: The Lean Jax Junto, a peer-driven virtual forum designed to ignite scientific thinking,  promote collaborative learning, and address today's most critical organizational challenges through thoughtful inquiry and purposeful action.

Historical Inspiration and Future Focus

  • In 1727, in the heart of Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin founded the original Junto—a small society of tradesmen, artisans, and thinkers who met weekly to pursue self-improvement, civic contribution, and collective wisdom. The participants asked challenging questions, shared honest reflections, and supported one another’s growth through respectful dialogue rooted in the Socratic method.

  • The word Junto itself means “together," and that spirit is at the heart of this experiment.
  • Just as Franklin’s group blended curiosity with accountability, we gather modern professionals to explore complex problems, test bold ideas, and strengthen our scientific thinking—not alone, but as a community.
  • Franklin’s Junto sparked civic innovation, mutual progress, and practical breakthroughs that shaped a young nation.
  • Today, we aim to do the same—bringing people together to address modern challenges with humility, experimentation, and shared purpose.
  • While our inspiration is timeless, our focus is forward. The Lean Jax Junto is a space to develop scientific thinking, apply it to meaningful organizational challenges, and lead change in a world that refuses to sit still.

How It Works

Each 105-minute virtual session is thoughtfully designed and tightly facilitated to maximize learning, clarity, and value:

  • Submit & Vote: Members propose challenges and vote on each session's focus.
  • Session Structure: Each session includes focused time blocks with group exercises, breakout rooms for deeper discussion, and collective problem-solving on shared Miro boards.
  • Progress Updates: Sessions begin with brief reviews of prior action items to maintain alignment.
  • Interactive Dialogue: Members engage in Socratic questioning, collaborative exploration, and iterative cycles of testing and refinement.

  • Accountability & Action: Every participant leaves with clear action items, supported by peer accountability to ensure follow-through.
  • Ongoing Learning: Between monthly meetings, members have access to coaching, clinics, and curated resources to sustain momentum and build capability.

Why Attend?

  • Deepen your capacity for structured problem-solving using scientific thinking—so you're not just reacting to issues, but understanding and addressing them at their root cause.

  • Work alongside peers in a forum that values inquiry over certainty, challenge over comfort, and progress over perfection.

  • Build leadership capabilities that extend beyond your role, helping you influence across departments and coach others in problem-solving.
  • Integrate timeless methods like the Socratic approach with modern frameworks like Toyota Kata that accelerate individual development and organizational learning.
  • Learn how to thoughtfully incorporate AI into your improvement efforts in ways that support, not replace, human judgment.
  • Strengthen your ability to balance short-term improvements with long-term transformations, navigating complexity with clarity and purpose.
  • Stay grounded in the human side of continuous improvement by connecting with a community that shares your values, supports your growth, and challenges your thinking.
